What does the Bible say about redemption?

1. Redemption defined

(1 Corinthians 6:20) For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.  (KJV)

2. Redemption is of God

(Isaiah 44:21) Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.  (KJV)
(Isaiah 43:1) But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.  (KJV)
(Luke 1:68) Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,  (KJV)

3. Redemption is by Christ

(Matthew 20:28) Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.  (KJV)
(Galatians 3:13) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:  (KJV)

4. Christ was sent to effect redemption

(Galatians 4:4-5) But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.  (KJV)

5. Christ is made redemption to us

(1 Corinthians 1:30) But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:  (KJV)

(Psalms 107:2) Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;  (KJV)
