What does a leader today need? Is it popularity? Is it business sense? Is it independent wealth? I suggest that a leader needs a willingness to submit to God with everything that they have. They must be willing to ask for forgiveness when in the wrong.
The Bible gives a clear example of just such a leader.
(Psalms 25:1) <<A Psalm of David.>> Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. (KJV)
What is the soul?
1. The spiritual, rational and immortal substance in man, which distinguishes him from brutes; that part of man which enables him to think and reason, and which renders him a subject of moral government. The immortality of the soulis a fundamental article of the christian system. Such is the nature of the human soul that it must have a God, an object of supreme affection.
David makes a very important statement in this opening verse. He is giving the most important part of himself to the LORD. To see the importance of this action we have to remember that David was the king. he was the leader of God’s chosen people.
For a leader to proclaim that he was lifting his soul to God would be a great example for people to follow. Oh what a wonderful thing that would be if our society had leaders who were not afraid to say that they were putting their very soul into the hands of God.
Let’s pray for our leaders.
